THI-Fulangjie TJ-S2.43 SPMT Dynamic Demo

Tianjie Heavy Industries (THI) of Wuhan, Hubei province, China recently launched its TJ-S2.43 SPMT to meet the demand for transporting large scale, oversize and overweight cargo equipment that cannot be disassembled.
Applications for the SPMT include short distance transport, port load-in and load-out, ship building, offshore engineering, nuclear power, high-speed railway, road and bridge, and wind power sectors.
At the launch, Guangdong Lift Engineering Machinery, which THI says is the biggest heavy transport and lift engineering company in South China, signed an agreement for procurement for 120 axle lines of the TJ-S2.43 SPMT.
The first 20 axle lines of TJ-S2.43 SPMT have been operating in Wuchang Shipyard, with the THI intelligent micro movement function achieving a high working efficiency during a ship hull joint operation.
An additional 52 axle lines of SPMT are being delivered to Zhuhai, South China for the large scale Hongkong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge construction project.
China Ocean Oil Cooperation, Wuchang Shipbuilding Cooperation, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Cooperation, Wison Heavy Industries, CIMC-Raffles, Sinotrans, and Cosco attended the demonstration.
THI's patented entire intelligent micro movement transport, visual programming control system, and intelligent fault alarm positioning system improve efficiency and prevent misoperation, so that the products to have maximum convenience, safety and protection during the transport process.

Tiandi's new 40 tonnes per axle line SPMT

Specialized transport equipment manufacturer THI Fulangjie (also known as Tiandi) in China has introduced a self propelled modular transporter (SPMT) optimised for transport in containers.

The TJ-S2.43 offers a capacity of 40 tonnes per axle line. It is designed for sale worldwide and has CE marking. The increase in capacity over the usual 36 tonnes per axle line is achieved with a stronger chassis design using Q690 grade high strength steel, the manufacturer said. Each of the four wheels per line carries a Continental 355/65-15PR24/80 tube tyre.

The first 10 axle lines of TJ-S2.43 have been combined, with one 4 axle line module and one 6 axle line module, for testing. They passed the static 125% load test with a payload of 450 tonnes, and also passed a dynamic load test to 110% with a payload of 400 tonnes, Tiandi said.

The SPMT, with its 390 kW (523 hp) MTU-engined power pack unit (PPU), has computerised electronic multi-way steering controlled via wireless remote control. Maximum steering angle is +/- 90 degrees and the available steering patterns include normal, diagonal, crab and carousel. Its standard loading height is 1,500 mm and the hydraulic suspension offers a stroke of +/- 350 mm.

The first order, for more than 300 axle lines, was from a Chinese heavy transport and lifting company. Delivery will be in time to be used on a project to construct a 12,000 tonne offshore platform. The first 100 lines of TJ-S2.43 will be delivered at the end of 2011.

THI has received enquiries from South America, Europe and the Middle East for projects related to offshore platform, oil&gas, and shipbuilding industries.

THI Fulangjie may also be recognised under the names Tiandi and Tianjie Heavy Industries.

Yes Jeff Lee at the heavy haulage equipment specialists Tiandi heavy Industries in China makes a most welcome return to BLB, not least to tell me: "Hi Brian, here's another transformer move inSouthern China done by the same client using 2 x Actros 8x8 with a 12x4 TIANDI TJV4 multi-axle trailers. The 1000MW transformer weighed 542-tons (LxWxH, 10.5mx3.86mx5.5m), which is the biggest transformer that has ever been transported and used in China!" Here you see it being loaded and Jeff explains: "The TJV4 12x4 trailer's maximum loading capacity is 696-tons. with 20m length and 6.22m width. Two sets of load distribution beam systems were installed to distribute the 542-ton weight balance safely on to the trailer platform and to avoid any point overload during transportation."

And here it is on the move with an Actros 8x8 at both ends...

The name of this project is: The construction of No.2 contract in the project of Tianjin Metro line 2, constructed by The fifth construction corporation of ChinaCoal.

 The Project begins form West YanAn road station to West JieYuan road station. Time limit for the project is from March 2010 to October 2010.

TIANDI has two EPB TBM been operating in this project. Up until now the First machine have finished 613 segment rings, second one have finished 508 segment rings.

Geological conditions:

The area along the Tianjin Metro line 2 is alluvial plain, which all covered by Cenozoic sediments, most condition is Continental deposit.

Affected by the transgression and regression in Late Quaternary Period, sedimentary layer have been formed on the mutual area of ocean and land.

The thickness and position of sedimentary layer are different along the Metro line, but obvious regularity for cause of formation can be found.

Jeff Lee who works for Tiandi Heavy Industries in China, the manufacturers of fine modular heavy haulage trailers has sent me these shots of Chinese heavy haulage movements, including this monster one through an underpass! Up front is a rather nice Actros Titan 8x8. Anyway Jeff says: "Brian, here are phtographs of 3 new heavy transport moveemnts from our client in South China with our TIANDI hydraulic trailers and some Mercedes Actros heavy-duty prime movers. The biggest one is a super large 420-tonne reactor transported by 18x4 side-by-side combined TIANDI trailers." Now click through here for more..

Now here's something you don't see everyday...a heavy haulage movement hauled by a Chinese heavy hauler. And for a pie who can tell me what the truck is. meanwhile Biglorryblog is most grateful to Jeff Lee at Tiandi Heavy Industries, the special types trailer maker, who has supplied the shots....now click through here for more (and as usual they are in 'Expando-Vision) 

This one shows a load test takign place at the Tiandi factory..Tiandi make all sorts of special trailers from giant beam units to modular platforms...

And here's a Volvo hauling an 18 axle set modular unit from Tiandi with a vessel for the Chinese nuclear industry....

And don't run away with the idea that Tiandi kit is only used in China..it pops up all over the place..this 14-line modular low loader is in bahrain..and how about that classic Bulldog up front?

And this 12-line unit is working in India...

And to finish here's a 6+6 turntable arrangement again in Bahrain..thanks Jeff.

It’s transport of a 334t transformer, dimension: 12.6m(L)x3.46m(W)x4.88m(H), transported by 12+12 TIANDI TJV4 trailer with a 450t bridge girder, entire length 78m, width 4.5m.

Time: October 2009.
Spend time: Two day and one night
Transport distance: around 60km.

The total transport distance is from HUANGPU PORT to East area of Guangzhou city, Guangdong Province, South China. I was told that this transport cross a Rail-bridge with 4.96m height and a 90°-turn with only 20mm distance(tolerance) to a wall of the inter side of the Conner(without break down the wall).

Now that's what I call a TEST load! Thinking about it, we could have done with just a couple of those concrete blocks some time ago when Commercial Motor was commissioning its' new 40 and 44-tonne roadtest trailers from SDC and Hill Hire. Two of these would have done the job beautifully! But why is Biglorryblog showing you a trailer covered in concrete blocks? Well it's al to do with heavy haulage in China so click through here to see for yourself!

This comes to me courtesy of Jeff Lee who says: "Brian, haven't contact you for a long time. so I thought you might like to see some shots of our newest model TJV4 hydraulic modular trailer and SPT commissioning in our factory and also bridge girder transport of some heavy transformers in South China.
